Lisa Skelton

Lisa Skelton is a textile designer and artist living and working in rural North Yorkshire. Inspired by the natural world around her, she creates appliquéd and embroidered portraits of dogs, birds and other animals, often set against the local landscape.

After completing a Master’s degree in Knitted Textiles at the Royal College of Art, Lisa ran a successful knitted textile design business for many years, developing a high-end accessories brand stocked by retailers around the world. She later worked as a stylist for lifestyle magazines and corporate clients before returning to design and textiles through her appliquéd and embroidered work.

Working with fabric, needle and thread, Lisa explores the texture of fur and feathers, light and shade, and the patterns and colours found in the natural world.
