Welcome to Just Makers.

We’re a Yorkshire-based business built around a simple belief: how something is made, and who makes it, really does matter.

We work with a carefully chosen group of artists and makers whose work shows skill, intention and care. The work we stock is selected because it’s well made and worth keeping. Nothing is mass-produced, and everything has a real person behind it.

Materials, making process and values all matter to us, and we take time to get to know an artist and understand their work before it becomes part of our collection. If we sell something, it’s because we trust both the work and the person behind it. Most of the artists we work with are based in Yorkshire, alongside a small number from further afield whose work meets the same standards.

Just Makers was founded in 2016 by Deborah de Brunner and is now run by Helen, supported by a small, knowledgeable team.

Alongside the shop, we run a programme of workshops led by the artists we work with. These sessions are about understanding materials, process and skill, whether you’re learning something new or deepening an existing interest. They offer time and space to learn directly from the people who make the work.

If you like knowing where things come from, and why they’re made the way they are, you’ll feel right at home at Just Makers.

Why Buy Locally-Made?

  • Yorkshire Artists

We work with professional artists from across Yorkshire. Independent businesses and real people doing good work.

  • Handmade Quality

Everything is made by hand, with skill and care. No mass production, no shortcuts.

  • Sustainable Making

Materials and methods matter. Each piece is made with consideration for how it’s produced and how it will last.

  • Chosen with Intent

If we sell something then it's for a reason, which is usually that it’s really quite good.
