Yorkshire artist Tara Joy is a botanical plaster relief and ceramic artist whose work is inspired by the moors and woodlands surrounding her hometown of Ilkley, Yorkshire.

Through Tara Joy Botanical Art and Ceramics, she creates handmade and bespoke pieces of art and homeware for nature lovers. Her passion for flora and the natural world was ignited when she moved to Ilkley, in the foothills of the Yorkshire Dales, over 15 years ago. The countryside and hedgerows continue to provide rich inspiration for her work.

Tara creates limited-edition floral casts and ceramics by hand in her studio and also takes on commissions to mark sentimental and milestone occasions such as weddings and birthdays. Her floral casts vary from small, single-stem pieces to larger panels representing meadows in bloom. Each design begins by pressing real flowers and foliage into wet clay; plaster is then poured over to create a lasting impression. When the mould is removed, even the finest details are revealed, as if frozen in time. Each piece is then hand-finished and either painted or left natural.

With a background in Art & Design and a degree in Art and Textiles, Tara now feels both fortunate and humbled to be pursuing her dream of creating meaningful, nature-inspired artwork.
