Yorkshire Blankets

Yorkshire Blankets is a family business from Barnsley, run by mother-and-daughter team Vicky and Fran. They give surplus yarn a new purpose, creating wool blankets in Yorkshire.

Their blankets are made using yarn left over at the mill at the end of each week, which would previously have gone to landfill. As the available yarn changes, so do the colours, with each roll having its own combination that is never repeated. Every blanket is then individually hand cut and finished by the team.

Vicky started the business in 2013 after leaving a career in banking, and Fran joined six months after completing her English degree. What began with blankets and local craft fairs grew to include hand-stitched cushions and lavender hearts, with an old family sewing machine helping them develop the range.
