Steve Oxley is a Yorkshire based photographer whose work is rooted in time spent observing and returning to the landscape.
After a long career running a graphic design business, Steve turned his full attention to photography in 2016.
A lifelong connection to the countryside now shapes his practice, with much of his work made close to home. Rather than chasing constant novelty, he revisits familiar places again and again, allowing a deeper understanding of light, mood and seasonal change to guide each image.
Steve is particularly drawn to the quieter edges of the day. The golden and blue hours feature strongly in his work, when light softens and details emerge slowly rather than demanding attention.
Alongside traditional landscape photography, Steve explores more expressive approaches using in camera techniques and considered post processing. Multi exposure and intentional camera movement are used to create images that feel painterly, impressionistic and emotionally resonant.
His work has received numerous awards and has been exhibited widely, including at the Mercer Art Gallery as part of the Harrogate Open Exhibition.
