Demelsa Haughton Illustration

Based in North Yorkshire, Demelsa has been painting for many years, firstly using traditional materials, and more recently embracing the possibilities of digital illustration.

After studying Fashion Design and Production at degree level, where she was introduced to digital tools like Adobe, Demelsa transitioned to creating her artwork entirely in Photoshop using a Cintiq tablet. Each piece begins with a pencil sketch, which is then developed digitally, allowing for greater freedom with composition, colour, and experimentation.

Demelsa's work includes vibrant prints and cards, all created digitally, which removes the need for scanning and makes it easy to reproduce with beautiful clarity.

Alongside her own collections, Demelsa also illustrates children’s books, including a recent retelling of Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales for a French publisher, and designs jigsaws for Ravensburger.
