Just Makers is a carefully curated shop and online space dedicated to quality craft and art made by artists working in Yorkshire.
Our purpose goes beyond retail. We exist to help customers understand why good craft matters in relation to how it’s made, what to look for and why well-made work is worth choosing and living with. Everything we sell plays a part in that conversation.
Because of this, we work with a select group of artists whose work demonstrates skill, integrity and a clear point of view.
Before You Apply
Just Makers is a curated shop, not an open marketplace. We work with a number of carefully selected artists, looking for pieces that strengthen the overall story we tell through the shop.
Please read the information below before getting in touch.
Is Just Makers Right For You?
Just Makers may be a good fit if:
- You run your creative practice as a professional business
- Your work is consistently well-finished and retail-ready
- You create original work with a clear creative identity
- You care deeply about materials, process and longevity
- Your pricing reflects the time, skill and quality involved
- You are comfortable being part of a curated selection, rather than a general selling space
What We Look For
We welcome applications from artists and makers who:
- Are based in Yorkshire
- Operate as small, independent businesses or sole traders
- Produce genuinely handmade work or small-batch reproductions of their own original work
- Can demonstrate consistency of quality and finish
- Have an existing online presence
We’re particularly drawn to work that shows strong craftsmanship, original design, thoughtful use of materials and a clear fit with the wider Just Makers collection.
We do not accept resale items, mass-produced work or novelty products.
How Working With Us Looks
If accepted, your work will be sold in our shop in Ripley, North Yorkshire, and may also feature online. We work on a sale-or-return basis and value open, respectful and transparent relationships with the artists we represent.
New work is usually taken for an initial review period, typically around three months. At the end of this period, we’ll review the selection and decide whether to continue stocking the work, refine the range or return the pieces.
What We Need From You
If you’d like us to consider your work, please email us with the following:
- Good-quality images of the collection you’d like us to review
- Links to your existing online presence
- A short introduction to you and your practice, including process and materials
Please send all information in one email. We’re unable to review incomplete submissions.
