Just Makers is a carefully curated shop and online space, proudly selling art and gifts by professional artists working in Yorkshire. We sell art and gifts side by side, choosing work that’s well made, well judged and feels right in the shop.
Everything we stock is chosen to fit with our wider range and to appeal to customers who value quality and the skill behind professionally handmade work.
The small creative businesses we work alongside produce work that shows skill, integrity and a clear identity.
Before You Apply
At Just Makers, we don't operate as an open marketplace or on a rent a shelf basis. Our available space is limited and we curate carefully so the overall collection stays balanced and clear.
If your work suits a considered shop environment and you’re happy being part of a mixed selection, you’re likely in the right place.
Please read the information below before getting in touch.
Is Just Makers Right For Your Work?
Just Makers works best for artists who:
- run their creative practice as a professional business
- make work that is consistently well-finished and retail-ready
- create original work with a clear creative identity
- care about materials, the making process and longevity
- price their work to reflect the time, skill and quality involved
What We Look For
We welcome applications from artists and makers who:
- are based in Yorkshire
- operate as small, independent businesses or sole traders
- produce genuinely handmade work or small-batch reproductions of their own original work
- can maintain consistent quality and finish
- have an existing online presence
- are able to provide professional photographs of their work
We do not accept resale items, mass-produced work or novelty-led products.
How Working With Us Works
If accepted, your work will be sold in our shop in Ripley, North Yorkshire, and may also feature online. We work on a sale-or-return basis and value open and transparent relationships with the artists we represent.
New work is usually introduced for an initial period of around three months. This gives us time to see how it sits in the shop and how customers respond. After that, we’ll decide whether to continue with the work, adjust the selection or return it.
What We Need From You
If you’d like us to consider your work, please email us with the following:
- Good-quality images of the collection you’d like us to review
- Links to your existing online presence
- A short introduction to you and your practice, including process and materials
Please send all information in one email. We’re unable to review incomplete submissions.
How To Apply
To apply, email us at:

We review applications regularly. Due to the volume of enquiries we receive, we’re unable to respond to every application individually. If you haven’t heard from us within 3 weeks, please assume we’re unable to proceed on this occasion.
As the shop can be busy, we’re unable to review work brought in unannounced or discuss applications by phone. Please contact us by email so we can give applications proper consideration.
