Ciara McClarence Ceramics

Ciara McClarence's work is rooted in the landscape and wildlife of the Yorkshire Wolds. Working primarily in stoneware, she creates wheel-thrown forms decorated using the sgraffito technique, drawing directly into the clay surface to build layers of imagery and narrative.

Plants, animals and the changing seasons provide continual inspiration, while Ciara's Celtic heritage and interest in folk art influence the patterns, symbols and storytelling found throughout her work. Together, these influences create pieces with a strong sense of place and connection to the natural world.

After taking time away from ceramics to raise her family, Ciara has recently returned to clay with renewed focus. She holds a BA (Hons) in Fine and Applied Art, specialising in ceramics, from the University of Ulster in Belfast.
