Join Tim Gomersall for a fun, inspiring, and educational day learning to paint some of our favourite winter birds.

You'll start the day with Tim revealing his secrets for bringing birds to life with little more than pencils, pens, and watercolour paint. You will explore drawing techniques and composition strategies to make your artwork 'sing'. 

You will then make at least two paintings of our winter favourites, following a detailed demonstration from Tim. He will show how to make the most of watercolour, using the strategies he employs to make his much-loved bird artwork. Wrens, long-tailed tits, sparrows and of course, the iconic robin will be among the options to inspire you. 

Throughout the day, Tim will be on hand to give guidance, friendly critical feedback and practical support. You will leave with some joyful bird art to frame and hang at home.

What to bring
All materials will be provided. If you have any of your own favourite watercolour paints and papers, feel free to bring these along though.
The workshop will be beginner-friendly, but experienced artists will learn something new from the tutor.

Where are Workshops Held?

Unless otherwise stated, our workshops take place in the spacious, light-filled gallery room on the first floor of Just Makers in Craven Court, Skipton.

Please note that the workshop room is accessed via one flight of stairs. Toilet facilities are available on site.
What Do I Bring?

Just bring yourselves!
All materials will be provided unless we let you know otherwise.

We’ll have refreshments ready for you on arrival. If your workshop runs all day, please note that lunch isn’t provided. You’re welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit the various tea rooms and coffee shops very close by.

If your workshop is likely to get a bit messy, we recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting creative in!
Car Parking

Car parks are available very close to Craven Court. The closest car park is High Street Car park (BD23 1ED) and we are a 5 minute walk.
Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes plans change, and we’ll always do our best to be fair.

Please note the following terms for workshop cancellations:

  • Cancellations made one calendar month or more before the workshop: You’ll receive a full refund.
  • Between one month and 14 days before the workshop: We’ll issue a credit note for the full amount which you can use towards a future workshop.
  • Cancellations less than 14 days in advance: We’ll do our best to fill your spot. If we’re able to, we’ll offer a transfer or credit note towards another workshop. If not, we’re sorry but we can’t offer a refund.

Gift vouchers
If you booked using a gift voucher, please note that we’re unable to offer cash refunds. However we’ll follow the same cancellation terms and issue a credit note where applicable.

If we cancel
If we ever need to cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ll give you as much notice as possible and offer a full refund. Sadly we can’t accept responsibility for travel or other costs you may have incurred.
