Before we all enter into January kick-starts, to-do lists and the odd post-Christmas funk, we wanted to stop for a moment to say a very genuine thank you.
If you shopped with us at Just Makers this Christmas, either in the shop or online, you truly made a difference to us and our artisans. And that difference is real and tangible. Your custom is what keeps our lights on and ensures we can continue to be here, doing what we do, which we hope is something that is of genuine value.
You Chose to Shop Locally-Made (that matters!)
Every item you bought from us was Yorkshire-designed and made. It was made by someone who has spent years learning their craft, working from their studio or perhaps their kitchen table, putting time and care into ensuring that what they made was done properly.
Now that we live in a world that’s getting faster, more digital and automated by the day, choosing handmade has become a small but powerful act. It helps make sure traditional skills, creativity and craftsmanship don’t quietly fade into the background.
And honestly.. our artisans feel your support more than you realise. When we sell one of their products, they celebrate, knowing their hard work has been recognised and valued.
You Helped to Keep a Small Shop Open
Running a small, independent shop isn't easy, especially with the way retail has been in recent years. We don't do this for the take-home pay, we do this because we love what we do... but love for what we do can only keep us going so long.
Christmas is a big time of year for shops like ours. It's a time that we rely on to ensure that we can enter the quieter months of January and February with a bit more confidence.
It means we can keep supporting our artisans properly and keep curating brilliant Yorkshire-made work into one place.
You Chose People Over Pressure
You could have clicked on a flash sale, succumbed to clever marketing ploys by the corporate giants or chosen the quickest options. Instead you chose something that came with more thought, a story and something made to value and to last.
That choice supports not just us, but a whole network of artists, craftspeople and small suppliers across Yorkshire. It keeps money local and it ensures that Yorkshire continues to be one of the most creative counties in the land, maintaining a heritage in the arts that we are incredibly proud of!
Looking Ahead
As we head into the new year, we are feeling very grateful, a bit tired (but in a good way!) and quietly excited about what's next for Just Makers.
Thank you for shopping small, choosing handmade and local creativity this Christmas. We can't do this without you and we are so happy to have you as a vital part of the Just Maker's story.
Pop in and see us when you’re next passing, or keep an eye on what’s coming next through our weekly email newsletter or social media channels. We’ve got plenty more to share in the year ahead!
