Julia Ogden

Julia Ogden is a painter and printmaker based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. Growing up in Brighouse, Julia’s love of art began early and was always nurtured at home, even when it wasn’t encouraged at school. Her passion for storytelling led her to study illustration at Edinburgh College of Art, where she discovered a love for screen printing and from there an interest in visual narrative took her to Brighton for an MA in Sequential Illustration.

Julia’s journey into painting began with a pop-up shop where her seascapes and floral paintings caught the eye of a gallery owner and she’s been painting ever since. Her work is deeply rooted in place, often reflecting the skies, hills and green spaces of Yorkshire, with a soft, dreamlike style that invites calm and contemplation.

Now settled back in Yorkshire, Julia creates hand-painted landscapes and stunning screen-printed products that range from cards and notebooks to cushions and bags, all designed to bring some everyday beauty into people’s lives.

Julia's been featured on BBC’s Home Is Where the Art Is, Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr, and had a piece selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2019.
