    Saturday 14th February

    Time: 10.30am – 1.30pm

Join York-based printmaker, Yvonne Hoggarth, for a creative and inspiring workshop creating prints from recycled tetrapak.

Tetrapak printmaking is a really fun, accessible, versatile method for making your own unique prints.

In this half-day taster workshop you will have an introduction to tetrapak printmaking and a short demonstration. You will then make your own plates from recycled tetrapak, and learn etching and mark-making to create interesting lines, texture and tone. When it’s time to print, you will explore applying colours using different inking methods to create rich, varied outcomes. You will end the morning inspired by this fun and creative process with a selection of beautiful tetrapak prints to take home.

Throughout the day, Yvonne will be on hand to offer friendly guidance and practical tips to support you in developing your printmaking practice. Every stage will be clearly explained and demonstrated. She will also talk you through how you can start printmaking from home and the equipment you will need to get started.

This workshop is ideal for beginner / near beginner printmakers or anyone who enjoys art and crafting and wants to develop their practice. You do not need to be an expert at drawing to do this workshop!

    What to bring?

Yvonne will bring along some architectural and botanical images as starting points but you are free to bring along your own ideas and images to work from. All materials and teas/coffees will be provided but please bring an apron to protect your clothes.

    Where are Workshops Held?

Unless otherwise stated, our workshops take place in the spacious, light-filled room above our shop in the Clock Tower at Ripley. It’s a lovely space that’s perfect for getting creative.

Please note that the workshop room is accessed via one flight of stairs. Toilet facilities are available on site.

    What Do I Bring?

    Just bring yourselves!

We’ll have refreshments ready for you on arrival. If your workshop runs all day, please note that lunch isn’t provided. You’re welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit the tearoom or coffee shop in Ripley Castle Courtyard.

If your workshop is likely to get a bit messy, we recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting creative in!

You’re welcome to park in the car park next to Ripley Castle Courtyard — it’s just a short walk from our shop.

Parking is free for workshop attendees, but please let us know your car registration number when you arrive so we can make sure you’re covered for the day.
