    Join Rachel of Rachel Grace Art for a relaxing morning drawing one of our most loved garden birds - a long-tailed tit.

    In this relaxed half-day workshop, you will be guided step by step through the process of drawing a long-tailed tit using coloured pencils. Beginning with a short introduction and demonstration, Rachel will show you how to build up a bird drawing, from initial sketch through to adding soft feather textures, gentle shading and subtle winter colours.

    You will then work at your own pace to create your own long-tailed tit drawing, with plenty of individual guidance throughout.

    The focus is on enjoying the process as much as the finished piece, taking time to slow down, observe and gain confidence with coloured pencils.

    Throughout the workshop, Rachel will be available to offer one-to-one guidance and encouragement as you work. Each stage of the drawing process will be clearly explained and demonstrated, allowing you to build your artwork step by step at a comfortable pace. The session is designed to be welcoming and accessible, making it suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous drawing experience who would like to develop their coloured pencil skills.

    What to bring: All reference images and drawing materials are provided.

    Refreshments will also be provided.

    You’ll leave the workshop with your long-tailed tit drawing, new skills and a renewed sense of creative calm — the perfect way to begin the year!

    This workshop is being run by a visiting tutor who handles their own bookings. The link above will take you to the tutor’s own booking website. You’ll complete your booking and payment with them, not through Just Makers.
    Where are Workshops Held?

    Unless otherwise stated, our workshops take place in the spacious, light-filled room above our shop in the Clock Tower at Ripley. It’s a lovely space that’s perfect for getting creative.

    Please note that the workshop room is accessed via one flight of stairs. Toilet facilities are available on site.
    What Do I Bring?

    Just bring yourselves!
    All materials will be provided unless we let you know otherwise.

    We’ll have refreshments ready for you on arrival. If your workshop runs all day, please note that lunch isn’t provided. You’re welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit the tearoom or coffee shop in Ripley Castle Courtyard.

    If your workshop is likely to get a bit messy, we recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting creative in!
    Car Parking

    You’re welcome to park in the car park next to Ripley Castle Courtyard — it’s just a short walk from our shop.

    Parking is free for workshop attendees, but please let us know your car registration number when you arrive so we can make sure you’re covered for the day.
    Cancellation Policy

    We understand that sometimes plans change, and we’ll always do our best to be fair.

    Please note the following terms for workshop cancellations:

    • Cancellations made one calendar month or more before the workshop: You’ll receive a full refund.
    • Between one month and 14 days before the workshop: We’ll issue a credit note for the full amount which you can use towards a future workshop.
    • Cancellations less than 14 days in advance: We’ll do our best to fill your spot. If we’re able to, we’ll offer a transfer or credit note towards another workshop. If not, we’re sorry but we can’t offer a refund.

    Gift vouchers
    If you booked using a gift voucher, please note that we’re unable to offer cash refunds. However we’ll follow the same cancellation terms and issue a credit note where applicable.

    If we cancel
    If we ever need to cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ll give you as much notice as possible and offer a full refund. Sadly we can’t accept responsibility for travel or other costs you may have incurred.
