Ceramic Highland Cow Workshop with Richard from Twisted Earth Ceramics

Time: 10.30am – 3:30pm

In this full-day workshop, Richard from Twisted Earth Ceramics will guide you step by step through the key skills of sculpture, helping you to create your very own Highland cow masterpiece.

These are substantially sized sculptures, offering the rare opportunity to craft a standing Highland cow on its own mound, which is a real statement piece!

The workshop is kept to a small group to ensure plenty of individual support. It will run for the majority of the day, starting at 10.30am (please arrive shortly after 10am). There will be a 45-minute break for lunch, with the session finishing around 3.30pm.

The day includes full tuition, high-quality clay, use of sculpting tools, glazes and kiln firings. Sculptures will be ready for collection within approximately four weeks, once decorated and fired.

The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and friendly, with nobody left behind, making this workshop ideal for complete beginners and experienced makers alike.

All abilities are very welcome!

Where are Workshops Held?

Unless otherwise stated, our workshops take place in the spacious, light-filled room above our shop in the Clock Tower at Ripley. It’s a lovely space that’s perfect for getting creative.

Please note that the workshop room is accessed via one flight of stairs. Toilet facilities are available on site.
What Do I Bring?

Just bring yourselves!
All materials will be provided unless we let you know otherwise.

We’ll have refreshments ready for you on arrival. If your workshop runs all day, please note that lunch isn’t provided. You’re welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit the tearoom or coffee shop in Ripley Castle Courtyard.

If your workshop is likely to get a bit messy, we recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting creative in!
Car Parking

You’re welcome to park in the car park next to Ripley Castle Courtyard — it’s just a short walk from our shop.

Parking is free for workshop attendees, but please let us know your car registration number when you arrive so we can make sure you’re covered for the day.
Cancellation Policy

We understand that sometimes plans change, and we’ll always do our best to be fair.

Please note the following terms for workshop cancellations:

  • Cancellations made one calendar month or more before the workshop: You’ll receive a full refund.
  • Between one month and 14 days before the workshop: We’ll issue a credit note for the full amount which you can use towards a future workshop.
  • Cancellations less than 14 days in advance: We’ll do our best to fill your spot. If we’re able to, we’ll offer a transfer or credit note towards another workshop. If not, we’re sorry but we can’t offer a refund.

Gift vouchers
If you booked using a gift voucher, please note that we’re unable to offer cash refunds. However we’ll follow the same cancellation terms and issue a credit note where applicable.

If we cancel
If we ever need to cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ll give you as much notice as possible and offer a full refund. Sadly we can’t accept responsibility for travel or other costs you may have incurred.
